Barbie turns 60 next year, and over the past six decades in excess of a billion Barbie dolls have been sold worldwide. While the popularity and sales of actual Barbie dolls has declined in recent years, the number of people with at least one tattoo continues to grow.

Many, if not all, of you reading this probably owned a Barbie doll sometime in your life. The dolls likely evoke fond childhood memories, and perhaps that’s something which you’re wishing to express in the form of a tattoo.

There has, however, been negative press (and research) surrounding Barbie over the years, with the argument being that the dolls contribute to self-esteem issues in children.
