Here on LWG we’ve already published a general bat tattoo list and another for spoopy bats – now it’s time for fruit bats. Click here for our compilation post of every animal list.
Megabats, also known as Old World fruit bats, are more commonly referred to as fruit bats. They’re found in Africa, Asia and Australia. Cave art depicting megabats thought to be thousands of years old was even found in Australia.
Their dog-like faces some species being nicknamed flying foxes. Unlike foxes, they’re herbivores and enjoy chowing down on fruit and nectar.
Some species are so large that they have a wingspan of 1.7m (5ft 6in). Others can weigh as little as 50g – less than the average size of a single piece of fruit.
Pick your preferred fruit bat species and your favourite fruit(s), or the fruits generally consumed by the megabat, and then leave the rest to your chosen tattoo artist. Choose wisely and the end result will be just as cute and fruity as these 20 bat tattoos!
