BB-8 tattoos exploded in popularity right from the moment the new Star Wars droid character was introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens; although, quantity does not equal quality.
There are well over 2000 BB-8 tattoos on Instagram but, as you can see, only 10 made this list (ed – now 15). Why? A perfect circle is difficult enough to draw on a piece of paper, let alone tattoo on a body part. This is the common downfall when it comes to BB-8: the lines of the droid are just not clean and crisp enough.
The artists with the skill to pull off a BB-8 tattoo haven’t stopped with just the standard image of the droid – they’ve added their own spin, their own style, and other elements to create clean, cohesive tattoos.
With Star Wars Month or any tattoo you see here on LWG (and elsewhere) please remember: Be Inspired. Never Copy.
