Kiwi Tattoo Inspiration – Littered With Garbage
People from New Zealand are colloquially known as Kiwis and there’s the fruit called the kiwi (sometimes kiwifruit or the Chinese gooseberry) but, since it’s Bird Month, this post is all about the kiwi bird.
The kiwi is a flightless bird native to New Zealand. It is related to other flightless birds such as emus and ostriches, however they are far smaller. Around the size of a chicken, kiwis range in height from 25-45cm depending on the species.
The five species of kiwi are listed as either vulnerable or threatened – hopefully they won’t go the way of the dodo. As with the dodo and Mauritius, the kiwi is New Zealand’s national symbol, and features on the coat of arms and on their currency.
Just like Australia’s well-known flightless bird, the emu, kiwis aren’t all that common in tattoo circles. We scrolled through Instagram and these were the best of the bunch. If you have (or are planning on getting) a kiwi tattoo, make sure to tag us so that we can take a look!
