Released in 1986, this year is the 35th anniversary of the John Hughes written and co-executive produced film, Pretty in Pink. Starring Molly Ringwald, Jon Cryer, Andrew McCarthy and James Spader, it tells a story of teenage love and the social implications of being deemed either rich or poor. Despite being considered a cult classic by many, Pretty in Pink was not reviewed favourably with critics who labelled the film as cliched and not nearly as impressive as Hughes’s other work.
