Death Becomes Her is a 1992 black comedy film which starred Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis and Isabella Rossellini. Streep and Hawn’s characters are rivals who both drink a magic potion which promises eternal youth but, as with anything that sounds too good to be true, it comes with a number of side effects. After a series of accidents and fights they’re left with very obvious injuries which otherwise would have been lethal. Monster Munch are a baked corn snack food available in the UK. Launched in 1977, the crisps were originally named The Prime Monster – a play on The Prime Minster – until Smiths changed their named to Monster Munch the following year. Given the current state of UK politics and the power of social media, we’re surprised that someone hasn’t started a petition to have the name changed back to The Prime Monster. In 1998 The Wild Thornberrys premiered on Nickelodeon, introducing viewers to a family of intrepid travellers, and their adventures around the world, as the parents (Nigel and Marianne) film wildlife documentaries. Sisters Debbie (voiced by Danielle Harris, from the original Halloween series and Rob Zombie’s remakes) and Eliza (voiced by Lacey Chabert, from Party of Five and Mean Girls) had a childhood most of us could only dream of, but what really captivated the young viewers was Eliza’s ability to communicate with animals. Last year The Karate Kid turned 35 – feeling old now? Released in June of 1984, The Karate Kid was such a success that the martial arts drama film became a franchise. The original was followed in 1986 and 1989 by Part II and Part III. The trilogy spawned a 1989 animated television series and the release of two video games. In 1994’s The Next Karate Kid, Pat Morita returned as Mr Miyagi but the character of Daniel LaRusso was replaced by Julie Pierce (played by future Oscar winner, Hilary Swank). May 31 is World Parrot Day and en excuse for us to share some of our favourite parrot tattoos. There are over 400 species birds in the order Psittaciformes which are divided into three super-families: true parrots, cockatoos and New Zealand parrots. The Tasmanian devil became the world’s largest carnivorous marsupial following the extinction of the Tasmanian tiger. Now a threatened species in their own right, the devils have found themselves on the endangered species list. We’re sure there’s some people out there who grew up completely unaware that the Tasmanian devil wasn’t just a Looney Tunes character, but a real animal. The only similarities between the animal and the cartoon character are the ferocity when feeding, and the strange and unusual loud sounds they make.
