2021 will mark 80 years since Wonder Woman’s introduction to DC Comics and first appearance in All Star Comics #8.
In those (almost) 80 years it took 75 before Wonder Woman received her own feature film adaptation. 2020 has been a shitty year, but it’s ending with the return of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in WW84 (Wonder Woman 1984).
Aside from both of Tim Burton’s Batman films, we’re generally not fans of modern superhero films, but we are suckers for anything ’80s themed and films or television shows starring Kristen Wiig, so maybe we’ll be adding Wonder Woman 1984 to our list of films to watch.
We haven’t searched for Wonder Woman tattoos since the first film was released back in 2017 when compiling a list for another now-defunct tattoo website. That article featured 20 of the best Wonder Woman tattoos, and this one 30, which means we’ve only managed to find ten more quality tattoos, and plenty of other not so great tattoos.
While the amount of decent tattoos resulting from almost 10,000 images on Instagram is quite low, we are impressed with the range of styles and creativity within each of these pieces. Wonder Woman fans have taken inspiration from Wonder Woman’s appearances in comics, animated shows, television and film for their tattoos, and some have allowed their artist to produce a stylised piece for their collection.
Once WW84 is released and tattoo parlours reopen we’re sure that tattoo artists will see an influx of people asking for Wonder Woman themed tattoos. Will you be one of them?
